We just added a brand-new, custom-designed watering truck to our fleet and are currently booking for our customizeable watering packages. We’re excited about the additional level of service we will be able to provide to our commercial and residential clients. A watering truck a great addition to a landscaping fleet because there are a number of ways we can use it, some that we bet you would never have thought of.
Our commercial watering program will be able to provide added value to our landscape maintenance and landscape construction services, plus allow us to add new opportunities to our list of service options.
New Tree, Shrub, and Sod Watering
Even with underground irrigation, getting enough water to where it’s needed after major new planting projects is often a problem. The process of planting a tree takes a major toll, placing them in a sort of level of shock. Root systems are disturbed to a great extent when it comes to planting. They must be carefully snipped off in order to allow the root ball to fit into containers, which we all know is not good for any plant. In order to help a newly planted tree recover and establish itself in its new location, a lot of moisture is need to soak the entire root ball at the time of planting and the day after to help get rid of air pockets and settle the soil. After that, new trees should be watered daily for a week, and then twice a week for the next four weeks or so. After five weeks, new trees should continue to be watered every seven to 14 days.
It takes a lot of water to get the moisture down as far as it needs to go. A tree that is 2.5 centimetres in diameter needs about six litres of water each time, which, without the proper equipment, can take a very long time. Our water truck comes with flexible hoses that can reach anywhere, plus the water comes out fast and in large volumes. With our customizeable watering packages, we can plant your new trees for you, plus ensure they have the greatest chance of survival with regular watering.
New shrubs should be watered with about the same frequency as new trees. A good rule of thumb is to apply from one-quarter to one-third of the amount of water it would take to fill the container the shrub came in.

When it comes to new sod, watering is absolutely pivotal to helping it survive and thrive. New sod should be watered twice a day for about two months, ensuring moisture gets to the needed six inches of depth. This allows roots to dig down deep and spread out properly.
Your sod should, however, be allowed to dry out properly between waterings, so if we have a cool and wet summer it will not need nearly this much. If it seems to be retaining water, is soggy and wet, then you can hold off for awhile before hitting it again.
If you have a large sod-planting project on the horizon, consider having underground irrigation installed at the same time. Underground irrigation saves a ton of time and money, and will help ensure that your new sod and garden are consistently watered when they should be.
Boulevard and Roadway Watering
Our commercial clients are diligent about the care of their properties and know that a good impression means a lot to customers. But, unfortunately, the layout of traditional businesses with large parking lots can make it hard to conceive of how to add additional plantings and support their growth. New trees look great, but new trees that have been planted and left to die do not (as well as old trees that are suffering).
Our customizable commercial watering packages mean that you can plant virtually anywhere on your property and we will be able to get to it. We can drive our truck right up to boulevards that can’t be reached by underground irrigation and give your shade-producing trees and shrubs a good drink. We can also take care of your flower planters, storefront gardens and green spaces at the same time.
Dust Control in Parking Lots
Our watering truck can also be booked for the occasional dust control project in your parking lot. We all know how bad our properties can begin to look after several weeks without a solid rain to help wash away dust and gravel. Book us in to help clean up your parking lot and create the best impression you can for clients.
