Retaining wall construction
Retaining walls are among our favourite landscape construction projects. They add a ton visual interest and versatility to a property while also allowing you to better support your shrubs, trees, and perennials. Retaining walls allow for sloped properties to become flat, controlling erosion and providing a more level surface area. That, in turn, makes for a better living environment for a wider variety of plants. Retaining walls also allow property owners to save on water, as it is more easily absorbed properly deep into the ground, rather than running off, and is directed right at root systems, where it is needed the most.
Patio construction
Patios are where friends and families can gather in the sun and under the stars, and must be constructed to the highest of standards.
Patio construction begins with a vision and is carried out with experience. We will provide our very best advice for the design and build of your patio so that it fulfills all of your needs. Then, we will advise on the most advantageous materials for your build. Brick is a great (and practical) choice for adding visual appeal to your yard, as they can be laid out in a number of different patterns (such as herringbone and basket weave). Natural stone, such as slate, can provide a rich and elegant look. Flagstone is a popular choice because it is great at surviving extreme temperatures.
Our patios will never crack, droop, or allow weeds in, as we are extremely careful and conscientious during the excavation process, which is arguably the most important step. We dig deep to remove roots and weeds and tenaciously level the ground for the strongest building surface possible.
New tree and sod installation and watering
Transform your yard into a shady, leafy, green oasis. We purchase, deliver, and professionally install new trees and sod, taking all of the planning and worry out of your hands.
For sod, the most important part of the process is the site preparation. We first mark any underground sprinklers to ensure they are not damaged throughout the process, then remove all of the old sod using a “shaver” for evenness. After that, we rototill thoroughly, ensuring to remove all surface roots and rocks and leaving a two-inch depth of topsoil. If there is not enough available topsoil we will add some until we reach the desired amount. The topsoil is then thoroughly raked, and we are experts at grading, creating slopes that are easy to maintain but also allow for proper runoff.
Trees need a strong start, which can be helped along by professionals such as us. We know exactly how deep to plant each different species, what spots in which they will thrive, the best mix of dirt to use, and how to build a tree well for watering. When we plant, we do our very best to not stress out the tree with over-handling.
In addition, among our fleet of vehicles is a custom-designed watering truck to our fleet. We book for customizable watering packages when your regular underground sprinkler system just can’t handle the job, such as when planting new sod, trees, and shrubs.
New trees need their entire root ball completely soaked at the time of planting and the day after to help get rid of air pockets and settle the soil. After that, they should be watered daily for a week, and then twice a week for the next four weeks or so. After five weeks, new trees should be watered every seven to 14 days.

Underground irrigation installation is a great way to save both time and money while also improving the overall health of your property and everything that is planted on it. Regular, targeting watering allows moisture to soak in much more effectively, and sophisticated control systems can be programmed in a number of different ways to account for the always-unpredictable weather we have here in Calgary. Sprinkler systems are very efficient and easy to use these days, and even add value to your property.
