It looks like Calgary is in for a snowfall on Friday, and temperatures are starting to fall. The good news is that trick-or-treaters will still have a nice night ahead of them – if a little bit cooler than the last few years. Just a reminder from us at Mirage to be very cautious if out and about on Halloween next Sunday, as the little ones will be excited and not necessarily paying attention. Costumes can impede vision and movement, so expect the unexpected at all times.
On our end of things, we have been anticipating the snow. We have completed our fall landscaping duties and are tuning up our fleet of snow removal equipment. We are a full-service commercial and residential property maintenance company that is in operation every day of the year. Mirage Landscaping is proud to offer professional snow removal services for our residential and commercial clients, and we guarantee to keep your property clear of snow and ice throughout the winter.
Why hire professional snow removal services?
Our residential clients appreciate the extra time and peace of mind afforded by hiring snow removal services for the winter. As we wake up in the dark and struggle to get ourselves to work and the kids off to school on time, it’s great to know that you will have a few extra minutes to get organized while we tackle clearing your driveways, sidewalks, and pathways.
Shoveling isn’t easy. It requires a person to be in good physical health, and even then, injuries are common. The most common injuries are broken bones from falls, back injuries from improper lifting techniques, and heart attacks from over-exertion. Those over the age of 55 are four times more likely to suffer a heart attack while shoveling.
As avid weather-watchers (it’s part of our job), we are also experts in preparing for every temperature and know the importance of dressing properly for all eventualities. Layers are key in freezing winter weather. We know to always pay attention to our body temperature and avoid sweating, as body heat and cold temperatures aren’t a healthy mix. We also wear the very best winter boots available to allow us grip and mobility even after a major snowfall.
We can simply do it better, and will save you time, effort, and even from an injury.
We guarantee compliance with bylaws
We are keenly aware of all City of Calgary bylaws surrounding the removal of snow and ice from public pathways within 24 hours of a snowfall ending. It’s clearly stipulated that bare surfaces must be visible after shoveling or plowing. If they are not, property owners could be subject to a fine.
We are also aware of where City of Calgary bylaws stipulate snow must be piled. Snow removed from private pathways and driveways must be piled on that private property, while only snow removed from public walkways can be piled on the road. Commercial snow removal requires that a lot of snow be piled in parking lots, and it’s easy to get this wrong without a discussion with the property owner. We always ask if there is a preference for where commercial property owners would like their snow piled, as they know best what is the least disruptive for their customers and clients. We can always provide suggestions using our expertise, as well, such as piling near to a gutter or drain.
Our contracts are clear and transparent
Most snow removal contracts – including ours – offer monthly billing that makes it easy to budget. We do our very best to provide quotes that will reflect the amount of service needed and are among the most competitive in the market.
We caution against snow removal contracts that contain wording allowing for additional visits that you could be billed separately for. There are some companies that will take advantage of months with heavy snowfall, and add on extra charges for what they might call additional services. According to the terms of the contract, you will be required to pay. This is unethical, in our opinion, and, unfortunately, causes many to be suspicious of snow removal companies. We will never try to tack on additional charges to your bill.
Commercial clients receive the very best care and attention
In our three generations of experience in the property maintenance, landscape construction, and snow removal business we have often been dismayed at the lack of diligence in that some other commercial snow removal companies have shown. Our commercial property clients are incredibly important to us, as we know the hard work and sacrifice it takes to keep a business running.
It is incredibly important that your business presents itself as a reliable and safe place to visit. Businesses need to put their best face forward at all times, and that includes keeping your property completely clear of any snow and ice that could be hazardous for customers and clients. Any sort of slip and fall on a commercial property could be disastrous. A valued customer could be badly injured, which then reflects poorly on your company as well. The result could be a loss of reputation, litigation, and even a decrease in business. Increased business insurance costs could be on the horizon, too, as insurance companies will note your company as a liability and potentially raise your premiums accordingly.
